I received call a few months ago, asking if I’d mind participating in a survey. Since it was only going to take up seven minutes of my time, I thought, sure, why not?
The questions were mainly about consumer confidence. I was asked if I thought housing prices were higher than they had been this time last year. (I said no). I was asked if I thought they would go up in the future (I said yes). Then he asked me if our financial situation were better, worse or the same now, compared to the same time last year. I had to think. Our Offspring are getting older, and we’ve needed to pay for items we didn’t need before. I said that I thought we were slightly worse off, financially, than we had been. Finally, he asked me if I thought we would be better off at the same time next year. ‘Oh, better,’ I said, almost without thinking.
I am well! This is news, because for most of the week, I have not been very well at all. And it occurs to me, on the rare occasion that I’m so unwell that I have to take naps during the day, how much the running of our household depends on my being well! Also, how wonderful it is to be healthy, and how easy it is to take that for granted.
Today, I resolve to not take my good health for granted (I’m sure I’ll be back to ignoring it tomorrow) and celebrate the sunshine. Enjoy the links!
I’m sorry about that. Somehow I got insanely busy with children, work, cats, and winter colds. Oh, and lighting fires (in the fireplace, in case you’re wondering), and trying to get the washing dry. But here I am, back again, with your regular Sunday links, so now you can relax! I’ve relaxed for long enough this morning; I’m about to wash the sheets and bake some chocolate chip biscuits.
It has been an adjustment, having younger cats around. The last time we had a kitten was nine years ago. Now we have a pair of six-month-old boys, and they are full of rough-and-tumble kitteny play. Our Offspring are utterly delighted with the kittens. The kittens are less delighted about our Offspring — although the tabby does seem to quite like their company. There has been a lot of giggling and squealing, interspersed with, ‘Ow! He just scratched me!’ Haha. Kittens do have a tendency to get a little carried away.
So in the brief window when the kittens are sleeping and our Offspring are outside playing, I’d better put these links up, and think about getting lunch ready! Have an interesting Sunday, everyone.
It’s been raining here on the south coast for the past few days. I love the rain and my Offspring have been jumping in puddles and getting wonderfully grubby. The downside is the house just will not stay clean. Currently, the Handsome Sidekick is vacuuming, after having changed the washers on two taps. Now that I’m done with the links, I can turn the water back on again and clean the bath while my Offspring tidy their rooms. I guess at least at the end of the day, we’ll have a clean and tidy house to enjoy. For a few hours.
Well, I’ll go and clean, while you enjoy the links…
Given that we’re expecting some wild weather this (Saturday) afternoon and evening, I’m quickly scheduling this post in case we lose power. So far, we’ve just had lots of drizzle and it’s a wonderfully cool day, but perhaps that’s the calm before the storm. I’ve decided to put the car in the shed later, just in case.
Right, then. I’m off to decide what we’ll eat tonight. Enjoy the links and enjoy your Sunday!
We have an extra child in our house this morning – it’s First Offspring’s first time hosting a sleepover and his friend arrived last night to stay. They had a great time, playing Minecraft and being nerdy about Pokemon. Ah, childhood! Now I just have enough time to post these links before I take her home. Hope you’re all having a good start to the New Year!
Sunday again, and wow, the last day of November. Christmas will be upon us before we know it. Thank goodness I found the advent calendars yesterday. I confess I didn’t win NaNoWriMo this year but I was still busy writing, so in that sense, it’s a win. The other win is some amazing gardening weather, so I’m heading out shortly to pick up some raspberry canes from an acquaintance. I’m so excited about growing my own raspberries!
Of course, the following links have nothing to do with raspberries, but I hope you enjoy them anyway.
I love the convenience, I love that I am able to view amazing images of the Philae lander, for example, or read really inspiring work, or listen to people making music in their loungerooms. These are things I might otherwise never have seen, or if I had, only when the television showed them to me. The internet is truly wonderful.
But sometimes, I need a break from it, because in among all that wonderful knowledge, there is a whole lot of annoying stupidity.
